Free FIRE Calculator for Freelancers and Consultants is practical work, not a productivity fantasy.

We built a free FIRE calculator with multi-currency support, investment breakdowns, Monte Carlo simulations, and country-specific defaults. No signup required. We write from operating experience, not trend-chasing.

What it does

Enter your country, age, income, expenses, and investment portfolio. The calculator tells you:

  • Years to FIRE for Regular, Lean, Fat, and Coast FIRE
  • Monte Carlo probability based on 1,000 simulated market scenarios with 15% annual volatility
  • Investment breakdown across stocks, retirement accounts, cash, real estate, and other assets
  • Portfolio projection chart with threshold lines for each FIRE type
  • Country-specific defaults for 28 countries with local currency formatting and inflation rates

Change your country and the inputs update: income in rupees, yen, or euros. Inflation adjusts to local reality. The FIRE number recalculates in your currency.

Why this matters for freelancers

If you bill 30 hours a week at $150/hour and spend $4,000/month, your savings rate is already high. Most freelancers don’t realize they’re closer to financial independence than salaried workers because their per-hour earnings are higher.

But that only works if you track every hour. Unbilled time is the silent killer of FIRE projections. A 15-minute oversight per day at $150/hr costs $9,375/year. Over 20 years of compounding at 7%, that’s $384,000 lost.

Track the work. Bill the work. Keep the margin.

Try it

Go to /tools/fire-calculator. Enter your numbers. See when you can stop billing.

Then track your hours with Miru so none of them slip through.

Hard Stop

Run this loop for two weeks without skipping cleanup. The compounding effect is real.

Start with Miru or read the docs.

Put it to work

Run one cleaner billing cycle in Miru.

If this article is about tracking time, billing clients, comparing tools, or automating work, Miru is the product version of that idea. Start free, invite the team, and send the next invoice from tracked work.

What you get

  • Time tracking, invoices, expenses, and payments in one place.
  • Free for up to 5 users. Pro is $1/member/month.
  • Open source, with CLI, API, MCP, and self-hosting paths.
See Miru

The article is the argument. Miru is the workflow.

Track the work, approve the hours, send the invoice, and get paid without bolting together three separate tools.
