Terms of Service

Last updated: March 2026

Plain language. No legalese traps. Here's the deal.

What Miru is

Miru is a time tracking and invoice management application. We offer a hosted version at app.miru.so and an open-source version you can self-host. These terms cover the hosted version.

Your account

You're responsible for your account credentials. Use a strong password. If someone accesses your account because you shared your password, that's on you. If someone accesses your account because of a bug on our end, that's on us and we'll make it right.

Acceptable use

Use Miru for legitimate business purposes. Don't use it to store illegal content, run spam operations, or attempt to compromise other users' accounts. Don't try to reverse-engineer the hosted infrastructure. If you want to see how Miru works, just read the source code -- it's open source.

Pricing

Our pricing is published on the pricing page. We may change pricing with 30 days' notice. Price changes don't affect your current billing period. The free tier is free. We won't bait-and-switch you.

Cancellation

Cancel anytime from your account settings. No cancellation fees. No exit interviews. No dark patterns. When you cancel, you keep access through the end of your billing period. You can export your data before or after cancellation.

Your data

Your data is yours. We don't sell it, mine it, or use it for advertising. We use it to provide the service you're paying for. You can export it anytime. If you delete your account, we delete your data within 30 days.

Open source

Miru's source code is available under the MIT license on GitHub. You can self-host it, modify it, fork it. The MIT license governs the open-source code. These terms govern the hosted service.

Service availability

We aim for high uptime but don't guarantee 100%. Things break. When they do, we fix them fast. We'll post status updates for any significant downtime. If the service is materially unavailable for an extended period, we'll credit your account.

Limitation of liability

Miru is provided "as is." We do our best to keep it reliable and secure, but we can't guarantee perfection. Our liability is limited to the amount you've paid us in the 12 months preceding any claim. We're not liable for indirect, incidental, or consequential damages.

Changes to these terms

We may update these terms. When we do, we'll update the date at the top and notify you via email if the changes are significant. Continuing to use Miru after changes means you accept them.
